Week 4

Name of Project
Connor's Air Ride

3D UI
Leap Motion

Updates
My plan for my project has changed slightly.  After playing with Hydra controls for my UFO, I realized that I was relying on the joystick too much and that making a destructible city was a lot of work.  My new plan is to make a loose clone of the Nintendo 64 game Kirby Air Ride with leap controls.  The controls are relatively simple, the player flies around steering a ship through a city and collecting power ups, and can slow down to charge up a boost of speed, letting them make quick turns.  I will keep the ship selection screen from my UFO game, and will still need to make a simple city, but it will not be destructible.

Week 3

Name of Project
UFO Invader

Updates
I have significantly changed my idea for my project.  After investigating Unity I have decided that I don't want to make a mod for Kerbal Space Program for my Final Project.  My next idea was a game where the user has to fly a plane through an obstacle course.  After playing with the idea some more I decided to make a game where the user controls a UFO and flies through a city blowing up infrastructure.  There would be a menu at the beginning to select a UFO type to fill the selection and system control requirements.

Week 2

Name of Project
TBD

Updates
I have been investigating using Unity for the Final Project.  While the Kinect and Leap have C# bindings the Hydra does not.  I therefore have to figure out how to access the Hydra's C++ bindings from C# or use a different 3D UI if I wish to use Unity.  I have also set up a Visual Studio project to experiment with interface ideas for my project and so that if I decide not to use Unity I am not set back significantly.

Week 1

Name of Project
TBD

3D UI
Razer Hydra

Ideas
For my final project I would like to create a 3D model assembly system.  If possible I would like to add Razer Hydra support to the Unity Engine based game Kerbal Space Program.  If this is not practical I  would like to work on a similar system where the hydra is used to assemble a 3D assembly out of smaller parts.  This project would attempt to demonstrate selection and manipulation tasks.
